Cleaning Air Conditioning Coils
Saves You Money...
& Your Health!

Cleaning Air Conditioning Coils is an absolute necessity in order for your Air Conditioner to run efficiently and in preventing a sickly home enviornment.

As dirt, dust, and grime build up on the coils, their ability to absorb and reject heat declines and the performance of the air conditioner suffers.

Dirty Air Conditioning coils results in longer run time, higher electric bills, pre-mature Compressor failure, and allergy/sinus problems from unhealthy mold and spores.

You Have Two Sets Of Coils

Central Air Conditioners have two seperate coils: One is called the Outdoor Coil or Condensing Coil. The other is called the Indoor Coil or Evaporator Coil.

The Condenser Coil or Outdoor Coil: This is always located outside on the ground or on the roof top.

Make sure that there is atleast 2 feet of clearance space on all sides of your unit and about 5 feet of clearance at the top.

Keep this space clear of tall grass, shrubs, and debris. This allows your unit some room to breathe in air through it's coils.

The Condensing Coil brings in air along with dust and dirt through its coils from outside air. It should be cleaned every year or so depending on its outdoor environment.

If the Aluminum Fins on the coils are bent, they sould be straightened.

The Evaporator Coil or Indoor Coil: This is actually located outside if you have a package unit. It will be on the ground or on your rooftop.

If you have a split system, this coil will typically be located in your attic, closet, or garage.

Dirt and dust that escape from your air filter attaches to this cold, damp coil and can harbor mold and other contaminents. This coil should be checked yearly and cleaned when necessary.

There Is A Right Way & Wrong Way
To Cleaning Air Conditioning Coils

Cleaning Air Conditioning Coils is sometimes a breeze depending on the coils location, but their is a right way and a wrong way to do it. If you do it the wrong way, you could potentially ruin your compressor.
