Energy Saving Tip:

Many people assume that if they set their thermostat to a lower setting that it will cool their house down quicker. However, this is simply not the case. Their is no point in setting your thermostat at a colder setting than normal when you turn on your air conditioner. It will not cool your home any faster towards your thermostat's set point and could result in excessive cooling and added expense.

Try setting your a/c thermostat as high as comfortably possible during the hot summer months. A setting of 78 degrees tends to be the highest comfortable setting for most people. However, the smaller the difference between the indoor and outdoor temperatures, the lower your overall electric bill will be.

Service Technician Calls

Service Call: Customer states that his swamp cooler keeps tripping the breaker and thinks that the motor needs replacing even though the unit is only 2 years old.

Swamp Cooler Service: This cooler's motor was in fact shorting to ground and causing the breaker to trip.  A 3/4 Horsepower 2 speed motor was removed and new motor put in place.  However, it was noticed that the existing 4L690 belt was way to tight and the belt adjustment was maxed out.  Because of this I figured that the wrong belt was initially installed and it's over tightness caused the 2 year old motor to prematurely fail.  The manufacture's distributor was called to verify the correct belt size and they informed that the 4L690 was the correct size for that unit and for a 3/4 hp motor and 3 3/4" pulley.  I explained this to the customer and stated that regardless of what the manufacturer states the belt size is suppose to be, that his belt is too short and too tight and that it can't be adjusted any further.  I recommended replacing the belt with a 4L700 to resolve the problem and explained that the motor would immediately fall out of warranty if the belt was not replaced and adjusted properly.  Homeowner did not want to pay the extra money but wanted to be schooled on how to do it himself.  I showed him how easy it was to replace a belt and showed him where the adjustments were, and explained that he needed the belt to have about 1/2" to 3/4" of play when applying about 3 lbs of pressure.  After this, he felt confident in replacing the belt himself.

I saw Bradley's company in a comparison against most all the other Hvac companies in my area... while others sounded good, I was not impressed with what customers wrote about their service and fairness on pricing.... I think Bradley is extremely honest and you really do get pricing that is half of the other HVAC companies... Nice! Bradley is also the owner which I like. I do IT consulting on my own so I thought that there must be smaller companies with hard working honest guys around that do AC work. Google brought up Bradley's web page, and actually read the testimonials and thought I would give him a shot. Bradley came and diagnosed the problem to be a motor, he spent an hour making sure, and returned after obtaining the part and finishing up the other work he had scheduled that day which ended up being 11:00pm to replace it so my family could get some sleep. NO WAY would a large company have come that late, at least not without extreemly heavy fees. Thanks for the fair price and Excellent service!
